tom, see if you can put the original footage...
tom, see if you can put the original footage through the HD link and just do a standard
Cineform convert, no upscaling or anything else... then see if the audio is in there... if it is then you...

bring the footage/audio onto the timeline... right click on the footage and choose " unlink "
now you can slide the audio to get it...

also of good habit is to pre run your tape at least 10 seconds before you record the good stuff... just put your hand over the lens and hit record......
