Jaser,

There is no advantage I can think of for buying the Tokina in Nikon fit, far simpler just to get the Canon fitting one.

Jon,

Totally agree on the Sigma, not sure either why Canon and Nikon can't sort out a decent fast ultrawide. The Sigma's do have slightly different colour characteristics too if you looking for...

Ray,

In general the Canon 10-22 is a fine lens, but its not f2.8 and it changes max aperture as you zoom. Also for video it has pretty hard to use manual focus with a thin none too smooth ring ,...

Jon,

My solution for mid priced fast good lenses on a cropped sensor like the 7D would be the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 and the Sigma 30mm f1.4 I'd prefer to use Canon or Nikon glass but these seem...

I do think Alan's assessment is fair. I've encountered really bad aliasing on wide angle and highly detailed shots from the 5DmkII. Have a look at the buildings about a third of the way into this...

Tramm,

Phil has already tweeted that there HDMI resolution still drops from 1080 to 480p and I've had this confirmed by Canon.

There is still AGC

Not sure about the other 2.

Looks like you can trigger video on 7D from iphone with WFT pack

So it looks like you can trigger video start and stop from an Iphone or other browser equipped device connected to the Canon WFT-E5, waiting for confirmation. This will be a real boon for Steadicam...

Charles, absolutely agree about the "sharps" thing. APS-C should be much better than 5DmkII full frame for a given angle of view. That said for low light shooting the FF still has the advantage due...

I guess the point of this that virtually no-one owns Panavision lenses, but for the right production you could rent one and use it with the 7D. Potentially changes the game of budget HD filmaking...

So according to eosnetwork you can swap the aperture control from the back to main dial of the 7D, makes changing aperture far easier especially when handholding.

The Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 should fit the bill of a nice fast wide angle zoom for the 7D. I have the Nikon fit one and it is pretty great. Ultra fast wide angle primes are harder to accomplish, the...

Then I guess maybe convert the Sony footage to 25p and then convert the Canon footage to 25p using the Bloom method. Edit the whole lot in 25p.

Dean,

The only solution I use is to shoot the EX-1 at 29.97 fps in NTSC, then adjust the 5D footage from 30p to 29.97 in FCP. Then covert the whole lot to 25p PAL using the Phil Bloom method.

Except that a 200 f2 with Ofer's EX3 and a MTF convertor would give you about the same magnification and f2 not f5.6. A 400 f2.8 and you beat it hands down :)

Have any of you considered using a fader-ND filter like others use on the Canon 5DmkII and Sony EX-1? It should solve the ND issue in most cases.
