laptop doesnt see sony Hdrfx1 but sees gs400 help
Hi all. I am trying to capture video from my hdrfx1e to my laptop via firewire. The odd thing is that I have no problem getting my desktop pc to recognize the sony but the laptop doesnt. The laptop sees my panasonic gs400 when i hook it up via firewire so I know the connection is ok. Has anyone had the same problem or does anyone know what the problem might be??
Any help sincerely appreciated! Thanks Jamie |

Hi Jamie. Tell us what software you're using (Premiere, Vegas, FCP??) and we can move your thread to the correct forum where you'll have a better chance of getting some help.
Also, are you trying to capture standard definition or high definition video? Check the setting for i.LINK CONV in your FX1 menus and be sure it agrees with what you're trying to capture. |

Thanks Boyd. I am using vegas7 but its windows xp pro (2nd) on my laptop that doesnt seem to recognize the sony. When you plug in the camera, windows will see the camera, recognize it as a digital video camera and ask what you want to do (capture using vegas, capture using nero etc). The panasonic gs400...no problem.....the sony....nothing happens!
On my other pc (using same os system & software), the sony is recognized no problem. The only difference that I can think of is that the desktop has a firewire card in a pci slot and the laptop has a built in dv port. This shouldnt make a difference i dont think. anyway, happy for you to move the thread to wherever you think I can get some help as it is really bugging me! Perhaps its a hdrfx1 setting that I need to change but i cant think of one that would allow it to be identified by two computers instead of one. So i guess its either a setting on the laptop or a setting on the sony??? thanks Jamie |
