Vegas and non DV / HDV captures
Can Vegas capture video from a non DV/HDV device?
I have a USB device that allows me to connect SVideo or standard RCA Type connectors to it (L / R Audio and Video) and in the past have used Windows Movie Maker to capture audio/video from a VCR or older (non DV) camera. I tried this with Vegas and it finds the USB capture device but says it can't connect to it. Anyone know of a way to do this with Vegas or is it back to WMM for these occasional grabs? |

Most NLEs have a very short list of supported capture hardware and your external box is more than likely not on the list.
If your concern is quality (meaning Vegas would capture in higher quality), weel, it doesn't matter - the digitizing is done in the box, all the USB cable does is a transfer, just like copying a file. If WMM captures the stream in DV format, than use if for capturing and import the resulting file in Vegas. |

It's worth one more try with "Enable DV Device Control" turned off in the capture preferences.
