Neo HDV advantage?
Well I downloaded the NEO HDV trial to try it out. The only real advantage I could see to it, is capturing and converting into an intermediate file. Which, if your computer is fast enough, the M2T file is just as easy to edit..right? Please tell me something I can take advantage of with Neo HDV to justify the purchase. And how come Cineform doesn't offer the Aspect acceleration for Vegas? J

John:
Theory is that the intermediate file system is better suited to color correction and other editing techniques.

you mean editing techniques such as adding effects, i.e. magic bullet, etc? And after the editing is finished, do you simply do a final render or do you have to convert these files back to M2t to final render? I have done a few tests on a 20 second clip, doing a final render...it seems that the intermediate files take longer to render than the M2T, much longer. What is the key to the fastest rendering?

Hey John.
As I said, this is their theory. I just started using the Neo in their setup myself, and I actually ordered the Connect HD from BH for $189.00 cause Cineform is advertizing free upgrade to Neo for Connect user who bought after February, 2007. I haven' actually timed renders. I got involved with it because of HV20 and my Letus 35mm adapter, and its ease of flipping image during capture, as well as 3:2 pull down removal conversion of HV20 footage. My experience in editing in "native" HDV is that if I limit the render of my final project to to one or two generations, I can get off pretty well. For my non-commercial purposes, that has been fine. Those that want to take advantage of best editing possibilities, are nott concerned with a few extra render minutes, to get best possible result...
