Batch convert

I have about 600 MOV video files and I want them converted into WMVs.

Is there a way to automate Vegas 7 (script?) to do this easily and without too many headaches?

1. Put all 600 on the timeline.
2. Use script to mark each event as a region
3. Tools/Scripting/Batch
4. Name the files with a header, Vegas will assign numeric value to the header on a per-file basis.
5. Point files to new location/same location
6. Walk away for a while while it processes.

Done

There are other batch tools, such as Peachrock that work well too, but for this simple conversion, you'll likely be very pleased with the Vegas-only workflow.
