Canon S3 video in Vegas?
I shot some video with my new Canon S3 still camera. The manual says it is encoded in Quicktime but it has an .avi extension.
Vegas doesn't want to know about the video--the audio will drop on the timeline. What do I need to do to get this video into Vegas? Thanks,

The videos are in MJPEG format. You need to download and install an MJPEG codec. If you do a search here for MJPEG you'll find some links.

I found the same problem with other Canon camera's using video. I have ULEAD Video Studio 10, which imports the Canon videos fine. I just pull them in with ULEAD, and sometimes edit them there if its simple, or save it as true .avi and pull it into Vegas Movie Studio 7.
I'm not sure why Sony is so limited on its file types. I like it better for editing anything I'm serious about, but doesn't play very well with other children. I guess thats kind of the norm with Sony! |
