Vegas 8... any idea when it's coming out?

With Adobe releasing Creative Suite 3 this year, I was wondering if we will be seeing a new version of Vegas from Sony Media Software? Which is the most likely moment that Sony will announce this (like a tradeshow)? I want to buy an extra Vegas license and it would be nice if version 8 is around the corner.

I really love this program.

You'll get the same old answer.
Those who do know can't say (due to non-disclosure).
The rest of us can only speculate :-(

I have no problems speculating on this one...

I highly doubt they'll be a new Vegas at NAB. Vegas 7 is less than a year old.

The more interesting question is "what features will Vegas 8 have?"

What would people like to see?

Network Rendering?

Well I would love to see an actual functional network render that doesn't take loads of hoops to jump through. I have followed help manuals, tips & tricks and EVERYTHING and have never been able to get the network render to work. I have to transfer the project files & project media to the other system and then start the render, and then return to work on my primary system.

Am I just brain dead? It seems like this shouldn't be that hard!

Network render relies on file-availability on the systems in question. Having a file-sharing/drive-mapping strategy that works for it is generally the largest hump to get over.
