Colorista 2, Resolve lite and the others

Hello,

I've always used what's available in Vegas Pro to work on color. I'm currently using version 12, no need to upgrade for now.
I'm aware of all those color software such as Colorista, Resolve lite etc.
Are they really needed?
I looked at a screen shot of Colorista 2 online and I see those same three wheels I have in Vegas, you know the low tone, mid tones high tones.
Are these people trying to sell us something we can already do in Vegas, Premiere etc or are they really more powerful color grading solutions?
Are they real tools or BS tools for people who need quick fixes without working, with filters, etc.
Thanks for your input.
