OT: Blackmagic releases free version of Fusion

This is a phenomenal compositing app that used to be in the range of $5,000.00
There are two versions, one free and the other for $995.00
For the average user (i.e. most of us) the free version will be all that we'll ever need. A Windows version is available right now with a Mac version coming sometime soon.
It uses nodes which takes some time to wrap your head around but once you do you'll love it.
https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/fusion for the details.
Enjoy!!

Mike I'm a little surprised that more people here haven't commented about Blackmagic releasing a free version. I first tried it out when it was DFX bundled with my Velocity system, which sadly sits negected in the corner. It took a bit to get my head around nodes back then but hopfully I can get going quicker on it now. Sure can't complain about free.

Gordon, like you I'm a former Velocity user but my suite is idle as well. Too bad as it was a fantastic (and expensive!!) system in its day.
I've been spending some time with the new system lately and all I can say is WOW!! A full featured program for free. What we don't get are tools most of us will never need and the ones that are bundled with it will take some time to come up to full speed but it will be well worth it.

I might well take a look at that.
However, I'm surprised that there isn't more discussion on the excellent Hitfilm Ultimate 2 software, now to be upgraded to Ultimate Pro, later this month. I think it's absolutely amazing at such a price.
3D model import with motion tracking, lighting, particle generators - all the bells and whistles you could ask for!

Robin, definitely take a look at Fusion as it can do all those things and more - and it's free :-)
