TMPGEnc encoder rule all others 1080i or 24p to dvd results beautiful. You should try their trial version. When I did that and got credit card out and bought it.

+1 for tmpgenc software, I use authoringworks, the program never crashed on me for dvd and blu-ray's and the output is fast and the imagequality is great, especially for dvd's.
