Vegas 12 trial - AVI import - Lots of frames flashing brightly

My present editor is Edius 6. I am currently using a Vegas 12 trial.

The file I am opening is a HD avi file rendered in Edius (Canopus HQ). I have made a Bluray disk from this file in Edius and it looks fine.

When I open this file in Vegas 12 and preview it, as an example, during the first 25 seconds there are probably 6-10 times that a frame flashes brightly.

Rendering this 25 second section also has the bright flashing problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks...Alan

Re: Vegas 12 trial - AVI import - Lots of frames flashing brightly

I suspect the Canopus HQ intermediate file, while an excellent format for Edius users, is not being interpreted correctly by Vegas. Don't know much about HQ, but have only ever heard about it in reference to Edius & other Grass Valley/Canopus products. Do you expect it to behave on other systems/software? For example, does it play correctly in Windows Media Player? If so, there might be some fix for Vegas...

If that is important, you should search on Sony's forums, as well as whatever documentation is available from Grass Valley. They have a tech support forum, if memory serves...

Meanwhile you'd probably like to demo Vegas while your trial is working, try rendering to some other formats out of Edius.

Re: Vegas 12 trial - AVI import - Lots of frames flashing brightly

If you look at the other post on this topic I can confirm it is only an issue with Vegas 11 or 12, 64 bit. Edius HQ or HQX works fine in Vegas 11 32bit, Vegas 10, 32 and 64 bit, Premiere CS6 ( 64 bit), Windows Media Player, Nero player etc. Not sure what the issues are but Vegas 11 and Vegas 12 are on my main editor an Intel i7 2600k, 16G RAM with a Nvidia GPU. Vegas 10 is on my second PC an AMD 6 core . Both PC's are up to date on all updates to Windows 7 ( 64 bit OS )and video drivers.

To work with the Canopus HQ codec in Vegas Pro 12 you need to install the 64-bit Canopus codec.

The Canopus Codecs are installed since I use Edius on the same PC and on this PC, CS6, Windows Media , Nero all work well. It is just Vegas 11 and 12, 64 bit that do not work correctly. Codec packs are installed with Edius. As I have mentioned the same files work fine with Vegas 10 64 bit.
