Re: Vegas Pro 12 Build 486 is out

Here's the list of bug fixes.

Notable fixes/changes in version 12.0 (Build 486)

Added support for exporting nested Vegas Pro projects as compound clips when exporting to Final Cut Pro X format.
Added support for importing compound clips as nested Vegas Pro projects when importing from Final Cut Pro X format.

When importing a Final Cut Pro X project, a Vegas project is created for the main project using the same base name as the .fcpxml file, and separate nested Vegas projects are created for each compound clip and for each clip that contains an audio and a video stream.
Added Anchor point setting to the Titles & Text plug-in. Text now scales relative to the anchor point, which does not move.
Added support for reading and rendering up to 16 channels of audio in HD MXF files.
Added support for reading Sony XAVC files. You can use the Device Explorer window to browse and import clips from XAVC disc images.
Added support for timecode in P2 MXF files. If you’re using a project that was created in version 12.0 (build 394) or earlier, please update P2 clip timecode as follows:
If you imported the clip from a disc image, right-click the clip in the Project Media window, choose Replace, and then select the clip from the disc image.
If you imported the clip using the Vegas Device Explorer, delete the .mxf file from the C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Imported Media\ folder and reimport the clip using the Device Explorer.
The Documents library and custom libraries from Windows Explorer are now available in the Vegas Pro Explorer.
File Open dialogs have been updated to allow you to browse and open files from mobile devices.
Fixed a bug that prevented the Sony Stabilize plug-in from working when 32-bit floating point (video levels) or 32-bit floating point (full range) was selected in the Pixel format drop-down list in the Project Properties dialog.
Improved performance when using audio preview through SDI video preview devices.
Fixed a bug that prevented the Sony Stabilize plug-in from being applied during playback.
Fixed a bug that could cause Vegas Pro to crash when loading some projects.
Fixed a bug that could reset event effect automation envelopes when splitting events.
Fixed a bug that prevented some fonts from previewing correctly when using the Titles & Text plug-in.
Fixed a bug that could start a different version of Vegas Pro when right-clicking a nested project and choosing Edit in Vegas from the shortcut menu when multiple versions of Vegas Pro are installed.
Fixed a bug that could cause the incorrect images to be displayed for selected Mute and Solo buttons in the Assignable FX dialog.
Fixed a bug that prevented the Plug-In Chooser from closing when Esc is pressed.
Fixed a bug that could cause all HDCAM SR templates to be marked as favorites in the Render As dialog when selecting a single template as a favorite.
Fixed an issue that could cause the "None of the files dropped on Vegas Pro could be opened" error message to be displayed incorrectly in the Vegas Explorer.
Fixed a bug that could cause a crash when using the FBmn Software White Balance plug-in.
Fixed a bug that could cause Stereoscopic 3D Camera settings to be displayed in the Track Motion window when working with 2D projects.
Fixed a bug that prevented the Use audio-capable preview device during external video preview setting from being saved when exiting Vegas (Preferences > Audio Device).
Fixed a bug that could cause Vegas Pro to hang when rendering MVC video for a Blu-ray Disc.
Fixed a bug that could cause Vegas Pro to hang when dragging a .mov file from the Vegas Explorer to the timeline if QuickTime was not installed.
Fixed a bug that could — in some circumstances — prevent the application from starting after registering.
Fixed a bug that could cause image sequences to have black frames in Video Preview and rendered output after zooming in with the Event Pan/Crop plug-in and time compressing.
Fixed a bug that could cause P2 MXF video to be opened without its associated audio streams.
Fixed a bug that could prevent the application from being uninstalled properly.
Fixed a bug that could prevent the application from entering expanded edit mode when pressing 5 on the numeric keypad.
Fixed a bug that could cause the first frame of an MVC file to appear briefly at the end when previewing the file from the Explorer window.
Fixed a bug that could cause XDCAM clips to have an incorrect timecode.
Fixed a bug that could cause the Video Preview window to flash when starting playback.
Fixed a bug that could cause doubled audio to be recorded after changing a track's input monitoring mode.
Fixed a bug that prevented regions being dragged from the Explorer window to the timeline.
Fixed a bug that could cause the application to freeze when changing the capture device in the Capture Preferences dialog.
Fixed a bug where the timeline did not show only the current edit track (at the default track height) when entering expanded edit mode for some screen resolutions and for user-modified track heights.
Fixed a bug that could cause the current edit track height to decrease after exiting and then re-entering expanded edit mode.
Fixed a bug that could cause application extension windows to be hidden after loading an extension.

Re: Vegas Pro 12 Build 486 is out

Again, looks like Team-SONY have rolled up their collective sleeves on this one.

I've installed and have it working on output from both a Canon XF300 and a Canon Bridge PowerShot SX50HS and am presently very pleased.

More of the font list is being reflected in the Title and Text.

My own particular angst has been reduced by:-

1/- Setting my ASIO drivers for my external Presonus Audio box to 48kHz throughout.

and . .

2/- Set-aside RAM=8GB, and have the nVidia GTX560 ti card Set=ON.

Still testing . . . .

Grazie

Re: Vegas Pro 12 Build 486 is out

I get black frames or entire clips show black instead of an image and a text clip once turned red... none of this had ever happened to me before. All my clips are uncompressed AVIs. Only shutting Vegas down and reopening will fix the black magic.

Re: Vegas Pro 12 Build 486 is out

Talk about exciting news! I've been plagued with Vegas crashing fequently while playing/scrubbing in the timeline. I've been patient because the footage I'm editing with is ProRes 422 1080 P & I suspect it's got to be taxing to play back. Still, my system should be up to the task, it's an I-7 based machine with a kick butt Nvidia GTX 560 based video card & 12 GB of RAM.

Still one small gripe. I almost missed out on this upgrade because the version numbers & build numbers seem to make no sense. I was running version 12.0 build 394. Now I'm on builld 486, but still version 12.0! I guess version numbers are debated, but I believe it would help to keep things clear if sony would update the version to 12.1 for example. After looking under the hood a little the install file names kinda help make some sense of it. My old one was "vegaspro12.0.394" now I have "vegaspro12.0.486".

Also for a little icing on the cake, when I send error reports after crashes I some times get the resolution window thing that opens up & suggests installing an update. The version of the update is in the 11 range. So the resolution is to stop using vegas 12 & go back to 11? lol.

I'll keep my fingers crossed & see if this build is more stable for me! I'll post an update after a night of editing.

"Fixed a bug that could cause Vegas Pro to crash when loading some projects."
I've never gotten 12 to open any older projects. Still editing on 11 for updating older projects.

"Fixed a bug that could cause a crash when using the FBmn Software White Balance plug-in."
Yep, seen that too.

Might try again to see if it now works. 11 works fine until I add pro titler content, then the crashes begin, under 11. I routinely finish all timeline editing, then create a new timeline for titles alone, which i render then add back into the main line. isn't that special?

Yes,
There are still many fixes to be made. i send in many crash reports daily.the worst culprit still seems to be the newblue titler. I have the latest build and it is still very buggy. I think it is time to dump newblue stuff and try prodad heroglyph

Re: Vegas Pro 12 Build 486 is out

The big issue I have had with the previous build (which I'm still using) s that when playing the timeline, if I delete a clip, Vegas siezes up. Never used to do this, it really cramps my style and affects my workflow to have to stop every time I want to delete something from the timeline.

I have not installed the new build because everything else is working fine and I don't want to screw it up. This is the first update since Vegas 7 when I did not install an update, I've just confidence in the process.

I probably will install it, I'll wait till my current project is done.

Re: Vegas Pro 12 Build 486 is out

I am confused. If I go to my Sony account page and log in, it shows that Vegas Pro Suite 12.0 build 394 is the latest version available for download, while if I click the link posted in this thread it takes me to the log-in page and when I log-in it directs to to the download for Vegas Pro 12 build 486.

Re: Vegas Pro 12 Build 486 is out

Funny! I was thinking the same thing. I was thinking along the lines of "deleted all video related sections of the software to improve stability"

Seriously though I'm editing this short film, and as I get farther into the project Vegas is getting more and more buggy. It's crashed on me about 5 times in the last hour & I'm just trying to make minor tweaks.

I'm about to try downgrading to an older version of my video card driver. I've heard some report this helped. It may very well be the GPU acceleration is what is crashing the program. The crash always occurs when I am previewing the timeline, which I do a ton of course.

That's exactly what happened yesterday to me. So now I'm not sure if I have the update on my computer or not.
