can't open .AVI in Vegas ? HELP!
Hello,
I have this .AVI file that won't open in Vegas 10. It gives me an error of unsupported format. But if I load the same .AVI in Sound Forge, it opens just fine and I can even watch the movie in the preview window. I don't get it, why vegas can't open a file that sound forge opens? I need to edit this film for a montage. Can anyone help? Kind regards, joni |

It looks like you have the appropriate 32-bit video codec used Soundforge but not 64-bit codec to work with 64-bit Vegas.

Never use a codec pack with video editing software, unless you know exactly all the codecs you need. Check your AVI with MediaInfo and select the required codec.

And is there a good source to get the codex in case I identify a needed one? Or should I get it from the developer's website directly? |

Please do not install a "Codec Pack".
