Re: Vegas Pro 12
Anyone having issues rendering? I'm struggling to get a render out, Vegas 12 keeps freezing on random .PNG overlays. A quick render is turning into a huge waste on time & sadly can't take my project back to V11.

Re: Vegas Pro 12
Nicholas, PNG problems appear to be an issue that has just surfaced and no one has a definitive answer yet.
Check out this recent thread on the Sony Vegas forum. Strange behavior of PNG files in VP12 |

Re: Vegas Pro 12
Nicholas, see if you can convert your png files to jpg and replace, should end issue.

Re: Vegas Pro 12
I use IrfanView (it's free and a great tool) to convert from one format to another.
IrfanView The only issue would be if alpha channel capability is needed which JPEG doesn't offer. If that's the case, try PSD or TGA. |

Re: Vegas Pro 12
Yes, Mike is right. Irfanview does batch processing so you can convert hundreds of photos to your specifications quickly, takes almost no time. Great tool, much faster than anything I know too.

Re: Vegas Pro 12
Buba, I usually right-click drag it to the timeline and then choose "Open Project". That will open the project as normal instead of as nested.
However, File - Open and picking the VEG file should work as well.

Re: Vegas Pro 12
Okay onto the next problem: V12 isn't doing Smart Renders, the "No Recompression Required." I can't remember if it's an option I should activate somewhere. V11 works, I redid the project in V11 no problems.

Re: Vegas Pro 12
It's not something you need to turn on somewhere but you do have to go from/to the same format and not all formats will smart render.

Re: Vegas Pro 12
Edward I understand but V12 won't Smart Render & I'm using the exact same Render Profiles imported from V11. I've been smart rendering with Cineform for two years when done in V11 it works fine but V12 won't do it, exact same settings. I must be missing something or it's V12.

Re: Vegas Pro 12
There is a setting in options/preferences. General tab enable no recompress long gop rendering. Maybe this helps....

Re: Vegas Pro 12
Still no luck on the Smart Render but I discovered by disabling GPU Acceleration my Vegas is a lot more stable.

Re: Vegas Pro 12
Started to edit two long-term projects yesterday with Vegas Pro 11 on my old Q6600 Quad Core PC, but got annoyed with crashes and freezes. I eventually bit the bullet and went out and treated myself to a new i7 base unit, came home and downloaded Vegas 12 Pro.
Amazing - both for the PC and Vegas 12. At last editing is the delight that it ought to be! I was dazzled by the rendering times as well: I'm actually getting renders quicker than real-time for the first time ever...and NewBlue Pro Titler actually works for me, which it wouldn't before. I love the whole feel of v12. ...back to the edit now...

Re: Vegas Pro 12
Robin, yes, it's terrific.
There are a few more labour saving Workspace options now. I like the Double-Decking of Panes and the more intuitive and THUMBNAILS in VegasExplorer. The rendering speeds and previewing are blistering. It will give you a new view into editing and how you get the feel for the narrative better. For me, now on VP12, NB ProTitler is the revelation that was promised. Clean clear renders to DVD and MP4. I'm proud to use it. Now, if you do any complex FX-ing, will talk again (wink) . . . . . Re: Vegas Pro 12
Robin, as to Workspacing, do a "S"plit. Hover over the split and double-clcik - stand back and go "wooah!" - Yeah? Looks familiar?
