laptop died. just want to make sure the new laptop will work fine with vegas pro 9
hi. i was using a copy of Vegas Pro v.9.
yesterday my laptop died. coffee spill :( i need to get a new laptop. my dead laptop ran windows xp. i assume whatever laptop i'll be getting will have windows 7 installed. i just have a couple of questions before going out and getting a new laptop: 1. will vegas 9 run fine on a 64bit win7 machine? i'm guessing it's not problem because win7 can run 32-bit programs... but i want to make sure. 2. i remember reading something back in the day about vegas not working well with a amd video cards... or something like that... not sure exactly, but it was definitely something about a type of video card that won't work well with vegas. does anyone have an idea what that was about and if it is still relevant? or if in genereal there is any type of hardware specs that i should keep away from? thanks! |

1. Yes, there is a 64-bit version of Pro 9 and it's free for you as a registered user.
2. Nvidia cards are always a safe bet with Vegas. |

Re: laptop died. just want to make sure the new laptop will work fine with vegas pro
More complete answer:
1. As Mike said, there is a 64-bit version of Vegas Pro 9 so that will run natively in Win 7 64-bit. However, the 32-bit version of Vegas Pro 9 will also run fin in Win 7 64-bit. Also remember your plugins. If you use any 3rd party plugins, see if they have 64-bit versions. If they do not, you will be FORCED to stay in 32-bit mode. The good news is that a large number of plugins ARE available in 64-bit versions.
