Loving VP11 GPU Acceleration . .

I'm using my 5 month old Win7 build with the nVidia GeForce GTX560 Ti,and Vegas fairly speeds along with my MXF footage . .marvellous!

Those of us from VV3 would/could only DREAM as to what we were wanting back then . . But now!

It would appear that SCS has either gotten over their hurdle of dealing with Card suppliers or they with them, to get together and fundamentally get a s/w and h/w unison to deliver this awesome product . . The future can only now get even better.

Exciting times ahead, Vegas-Mates!

( breathe out . . . .and relax . . )

Grazie

I agree it is an exciting development, but the playback results for me are identical. My render times are somewhat better, for sure. But that's about it.

Re: Loving VP11 GPU Acceleration . .

I can't render 720p with 11 at all. Very serious issue. Absolutely a very bad thing.

Re: Loving VP11 GPU Acceleration . .

I click render. the first image in the video appears in the preview window appears as it should, but as the seconds pass it doesn't change. it appears to be frozen, stuck.

Then in about 20 seconds give or take, not sure, the "Vegas cannot complete render due to an unexpected error" pops up and "the reason could not be determined".

I should add I'm running a newer processor, video card, etc and have a super fast drive.

Re: Loving VP11 GPU Acceleration . .

Jeff, i had the same issue. Was solved once i upgraded my GPU driver. And my GPU is not even supported! After the upgrade i was able to render and had a 2x rendering speed boost. Hope this helps.

Re: Loving VP11 GPU Acceleration . .

Sean, thanks much. I did have the latest drive, but reinstalled it anyway, but now I don't remember if I tried to render 720p afterwards or not, I was so busy I just forgot V11 and moved on. If I did try it it didn't work. I will try again later, thanks for sharing. Congrats on it working for you!

Re: Loving VP11 GPU Acceleration . .

I wanted to take advantage of VP11's GPU acceleration, so today I changed my old video card for the Nvidia GT420 which Adam uses I think.
For some reason, even though the card shows up in VP11's preferences so it should be in use, and I can play the timeline with no problem, I just get a freeze on rendering after a minute or so. Even NewBlue Titler will cause it to freeze - and the card is supposed to be one of those recommended by NB.
In desperation, I re-installed Pro 10, but that won't even recognise my .mxf files any more. Help! Why can't it see the codec?

Re: Loving VP11 GPU Acceleration . .

Okay, some updates:
1/ Sorry Adam, I have got the same - the GT 430, my mistake calling it 420.
2/ After re-booting, the mxf files are now working in VP10!
3/ Jeff, I was rendering 720p, but with the Sony AVC setting.

Re: Loving VP11 GPU Acceleration . .

Robin is the rendering issue fixed? Or still freezing, or have you even tried it again yet? I tried everything cannot make it work.

Re: Loving VP11 GPU Acceleration . .

Jeff, for some reason things are looking up. VP11 is now rendering just fine. I used the same clips on the timeline and rendered as AVCHD, MXF,BluRay all at 1920, and even 720p! It was the fastest render that I've had on this machine which is only a Q6600, but it does the job.
The only problem is still with the NewBlue Titler. The Sony Pro Titler is now actually working for me which is something...
I can use the plain vanilla TEXT generator, which is fine for 99% of what I need. It's just that it would be nice to access all the bells and whistles that have been promised!

Re: Loving VP11 GPU Acceleration . .

Congrats, Robin. I'm going to do a complete windows re-install. I need to do it anyway, and I'm hoping it will resolve the 720p rendering issue for me.
