Vegas and RAM?
In Vegas Pro where you select the amount of RAM to use (under Video preferences) I was wondering if this amount of RAM you select is used only while Vegas is open or does it still allocate use of that amount of RAM from your system when Vegas is closed thereby cheating your system of available RAM?
The reason I ask is I also use Photoshop CS5 and it too has a preference to select the amount of RAM used so I would hate to eat up RAM needed by the system when neither of the programs are open and being used. My new system specs in case it factors into the answer to my question: Windows 7 64 bit machine XPS 8300 Intel Core i7-2600 processor(8MB Cache, 3.4GHz) 12GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHZ, 2x4GB/2x2GB AMD Radeon HD 6770 Graphics card Thanks in advance, TC

Re: Vegas and RAM?
It is used only when Vegas is open.

Re: Vegas and RAM?
I always keep the number fairly small. When rendering, many rendering issues can be resolved by keeping the number small. Really the only time it needs to be bigger is if you're doing RAM preview renders - then the higher the number the longer the amount of time you can preview render.
