Re: Sound fx to remove noise from audio
Marcus,
there are a number of things you could do but the first question I have to ask is why did you normalize the audio? If your levels are too low then you have about 6 ways to Sunday to raise them without normalizing. First there is the levels control in the track header. Then if you send the track to an audio bus you can adjust overall levels with the levels control there. Both of theose methods allow you to not only set a level via the slider but also if you right click on the levels control there is a menu that has various attenuation levels already. Of course you can also use a volume envelope on the track and by using points thru out the track you can adjust up and down. Also you can use a master audio track (press B) and set levels there as well. However in answer to your question once you have the levels set correctly then you can use the TRACK EQ which has 4 basic points, find the freq by adjusting the points one at a time (be careful so you don't change the sound of the voice-generally point #1 will give you most of what you need, and then adjust the other points to taste OR you can use the Graphic EQ. I set it to 20 sliders and adjust one at a time to find the correct frequency to eliminate as much of the noise as possible without changing the sound of the voice. You might find a combination of these ways works best. There is another method and that is Noise Reduction. there are some free NRs out there, Audicity and Goldwave come to mind.
