FX Bypass Shortcut Key?
Does Sony Vegas Pro have a keyboard shortcut key to toggle the FX Bypass in the preview window?

Re: FX Bypass Shortcut Key?
I just checked the help files and it doesn't appear that there is shortcut key for this function.

I looked and it's also not an option you can manually add to a keypress. I did a really quick look and also did not see anything in the programming API to do this.

Re: FX Bypass Shortcut Key?
Thanks guys, hoped it was possible, when I grade I constantly toggle FX Bypass on/off to see the results of the changes I make, a shortcut really would have helped. Bummer on the API Edward I guess that means no scripting magic - it's a sad day.

Re: FX Bypass Shortcut Key?
Won't using split screen preview help you to see the before and after?
Does it really take that much longer than using a keybpard shortcut to tick and untick the FX in the chain, especially as this means you can by-pass an FX in the middle of the chain to see how the others on the event stand up with and without it? Richard |

Re: FX Bypass Shortcut Key?
Richard yes you can tick the chain on/off but when you do this for a living editing most of your days away efficiency becomes important and there are real health implications with RSI to be taken into account as well. Editing software still has a long way to go to achieve a more natural interface, ticking tiny boxes is a very stupid way to work but it will have to do for now.

Re: FX Bypass Shortcut Key?
Interestingly there IS an Audio Fx bypass control and assignable command.
A before and after option AT the menu level, that is not needing to switch one's concentration away from the creative focus to click a bypass option is unnecessary. Worth a Feature request to SCS. I'd like it. Grazie |

Re: FX Bypass Shortcut Key?
Good idea Graham, I sent in a feature request today, if you would like to see a shortcut key for FX Bypass on video effects follow the link below and submit a request. If we have a few requests hopefully Sony developers will add this to Vegas.
