Help - Broadcast Standards from Comcast!
I could really use some help as I've been beating my head on the desk for a full day. I'm a videographer and Vegas Pro 9d user. I shot and edited a 30-second spot for a client who has signed a contract with the regional Comcast office to air the spot starting on Saturday. I need to upload the file to their FTP site, but the rendering guidelines they've provided don't seem to match any of the render settings in Vegas. From Comcast:
HD Resolution options: 1080i = 1920 X 1080 @ 29.97 frames/sec. 720p = 1280x720 @ 59.94 frames/sec Codecs: MPEG-2 Transport Stream, Apple ProRes 422, Avid DNxHD 145 (8bit), H.264 Interlacing: All 1080i should be upper/top field first; All 720p should be progressive. Chroma: 4:2:2 Audio Sample Rate: 48 KHz, 16bit, dual channel audio, Bit rate: 45 Mbs – lower bit rates may result in poor quality. They're expecting a Quicktime file size between 400-600MB, and an MPEG-2 file size between 40-150MB. I shot with my Sony Z5 in 1080/30p mode. I can render the file in a variety of formats, but none seem to offer a 45Mbs constant bit rate or an option to take the frame rate to 59.94. I know the differences between MOV, MP4 and MPEG-2, but I don't know if AVC/MP4 is equivalent to H.264? If you have experience with these settings, please let me know - I need to resolve quickly! Thanks - Sam |

Re: Help - Broadcast Standards from Comcast!
Sam you just manually set your settings. The High bitrate is manually set in the preset itself. For our local CBS affiliate, I have to use a H.264 instead of quicktime because their system doesn't like my quicktime. It's all a process.

Re: Help - Broadcast Standards from Comcast!
Leslie and Jerry, thanks for recommending the codecs from Avid, and I feel silly for asking this question: how do I integrate that into my Vegas workflow? Thanks again -

Re: Help - Broadcast Standards from Comcast!
Sam,
See if this helps. First, download & install the codec. Then configure a template as shown in the attached image. Save the template and render. ...Jerry |
