Informative thread. I also have had great results shooting and editing in HDV then rendering to MPEG 2 for standard DVD's.

Glad I now know that it is mostly other formats that have quality issues downconverting in Vegas to standard definition.

Does worry me though as I plan on getting at least one AVCHD camera in the future so I wonder how that is going to affect my workflow.
