Movie-Like Plug-in
Okay, I have a question. I am looking for a plug-in for Vegas Pro 10 that gives some presets on the typical movie-like color correction. I tried to install Magic Bullet Mojo, but realized they stopped making it compatible for Vegas Pro after version 9. I know this topic has been asked a million times, but I'm not quite sure what is a plug-in out there and what is an actual host application. I guess I just need the plug-in.

Plugins are 2nd party applications that when installed show up in the Vegas grouping of FX.
Look at NewBlueFX. The film look and or Video Essentials l might just do what you want. I have them and NewBlue is awesome stuff, easy to install, easy to use and their customer service is second to none.

In the absence of Eugenia herself, have a look at this: Eugenia's Rants and Thoughts Blog Archive Sony Vegas color grading presets (not sure if it works with VMSP 10)

Hi Rainer,
Thanks for resurrecting Eugenia's settings. I've just downloaded them and they are very useful indeed. (Installed on SV Pro 10)

Yeah, those were very useful!! Thank you very much. I wonder where the Peach & Teal settings are that we see so much of in movies these days, hehehe

Robin Davies,
Can you report back if you have any problem using these presets in Vegas Pro 10 please? If they work fine for you then I am going to download them also. |

I just downloaded Eugenia's presets and applied them in Vegas Pro 10, and all worked just fine.

Chris beat me to it, but I can confirm his findings.
The presets look like this: The effects have been applied to mxf. files from Canon XF305. Of course, all the parameters can be adjusted; these are straight presets...

Hey Robin, why did you call that one preset as "No 85"? The other ones made sense.

That's what it came down as in the presets list.
It could mean "No 85 filter" which is when with a film camera shooting tungsten-based stock, the Wratten 85 Tungsten to Daylight filter was left off the lens...

Great tip, are there other presets aside from the ones she made? I'm looking for something that makes the colors poppier or more saturated. A lot of hers are interesting but not sure how I'd use them. I love MB but it doesn't play with 64 bit systems.

As far as I can see, these are the only presets on her file.
However, they are all adjustable to your own parameters - I've shown everything at the default mode. Have a try and play around with them yourself. When you find something you like, just save it as your own preset. The effects are of course a combination of the built-in effects in Vegas, so when you open the preset panel, you'll see a number of effects chained together to get Eugenia's.

Whenever I've mentioned this plugin, I never hear that anyone else is using them, but I've had great success with the VASST Reel-Paks. The "Film-Like" preset is almost a requirement for clips I render... it doesn't slow down your preview/render like Magic Bullet and I really like the look:
