New One to Me - Rectangle in Final Video File

Hi everyone,

Here's one that completely new to me. I've attached a screenshot (crappy quality I know - I had to grab it from Windows Media Player so it's a bit low on resolution) of something that I've seen for the first time in a finished Vegas Pro 9/DVDA 5 project.

There is a translucent rectangle visible during playback that, I think, is there constantly, but much more evident on brightened scenes. In the attached jpeg, it is located right in the middle of the screen and extends out to the right of the guy's wrist and cuff.

Unless I've just never noticed, it's never been there before know. This is a Blu-Ray file, 1440X1080 60i, 25mbps. I first saw it while playing the disc on the BR player and HD TV, hoped it was just the TV but now I see it on the actual file being played on the computer. I know it's hard to see in this shot, but it's really more evident on TV playback.

Anyone else ever seen of heard of this?

EDIT: I went into the original project file and found something interesting - this artifact is because I applied a soft contrast vignette to the shot. But I've never seen this in any project before. I've just attempted to soften, enlarge, shrink, etc. to the effect but the rectangle doesn't go away - just changes size.

Mike, what plugin(s) did you use to create the vignette? Could you let us know the settings?

Hi Mike,

How about all the other Soft Contrast settings?

Is there any other track above the one with the fx applied?
