Capture with HDVsplit w/out Split Success???

Anybody out there able to capture without issues with HDVsplit with scene detection turned off? I had a nasty problem of having what appeared to be a major drop out which 3 minutes of footage was just not there. Tried to recapture the entire tape again in HDVsplit and same issue in the same spot. Vegas 8.0c captured it just fine. I've noticed HDVsplit is great when you need scene split and those scenes don't run for very long. Otherwise dropouts and missing footage.

Capturing with tape

When I used to capture tape files, I would just use the default settings with no problems really. On versions 9 or 10 I used to have to hit play first then capture for dv files for some reason. But HDV would roll in just fine with HDV setting chosen at capture time. I hope I have understood your question. But I believe I would just leave scene detection on.
