Can I specify a format in a "save as."
When you do a "SaveAs," and you save all elements to a central folder (i.e. copy media with project checked), can you specify the codec it renders out all clips in?
Thanks! Walt |

No. The goal is to get ZERO loss so if it can't smart trim them, it simply copies the entire file.

Thanks!
Thanks, but I still wish it could. For long term archival of projects I PROBABLY will never go back to, I'd sure love to be able to save a project in a more compressed format, yet still have it ready to edit in a pinch.
In this particular case, I have a friend who bought the expensive version of the Cineform codec, and I'm still just using Vegas's intermediate version of Cineform. I want to pick up where he left off on a project, but I don't want to purchase the expensive version of Cineform at this time. So, our projects are incompatible. When I installed the "player only" version of the most modern Cineform, it replaced my Vegas intermediate, and became quite a hassle. Thanks again for your input. |

That's what File - RENDER As is for. That will save the entire project into whatever format you want using whatever compression you want. However, you can't go back and edit it more afterwards. All depends on your ultimate needs.
