Vegas Pro 9.0d layered PSD support
I'm sure by now many of you know of the new multiple layer PSD Photoshop file support in Sony Vegas 9.0d. Well I am proud to say for those of you on a budget that this feature also works with the free software Gimp. Gimp is an open source clone of Photoshop (well it tries to be). Gimp can save Photoshop PSD files with multiple layers and they import right into Vegas and work with the new layer to track feature.
Another great bonus is that any change I make in Gimp and save over the PSD file on the hard drive gets instantly updated in Vegas. It even updates the specific layers and tracks in the timeline. This means you can use the free Gimp and a title tool on steroids. Now if only Vegas would add the option on double click of a PSD file to open in Gimp or Photoshop. Right now you actually have to go back into Gimp or Photoshop yourself and manually load the PSD file of choice and make your changes. Not a bad workflow however once you get used to it. This is one heck of a powerful feature in the hands of a graphic artist. |

Yes, powerful feature!
"Now if only Vegas would add the option on double click of a PSD file to open in Gimp or Photoshop" And yes it would be good to have this Graphic open in your Favourite Graphic Package . . . "What's that Skippy? There is one? And it's by the old mine shaft? Must go see . . . . " Well Thomas, you shall go to the Ball! - There is a script that will do just that and answer your wishes! PSD layer into Graphics Editor? It's exactly what this script was waiting for. You can Edit and have it come back as a Take2. 3/4 ways down the list is "Open In Graphics Editor" Marvellous: Document sans nom Gilles (aka Rosebud) has posted these free scripts. Grazie |
