I lost my activation code for Vegas Platinum 9.0

I bought Sony Vegas about 2 years ago and never installed it onto my PC. I need to install it now but the problem is that I only have the disk and not the registration code.

Are the disks only authorized to work that THAT specific code? Is there any way I will be able to get Vegas running or will I have to buy it again?

If you registered the product you can login to your account at Sony Creative Software - Vegas video - ACID & Sound Forge audio editing and get your codes from there.

Since you never installed it, Thomas' method won't work. If you bought a boxed version in a store, Sony won't know the number for that particular box so Chip's method would not work. If you bought it direct from Sony, definitely do call Sony as Chip mentioned. Otherwise, you need to find the box and find the serial number inside that box.

One time a number of years ago, I faxed a picture of the original disks to the vendor and they issued a new activation key. This probably wasn't Sony but it struck me as very helpful customer relations.

As someone else stated, if you bought it directly from Sony, contact them and they can help. I had to do just this a few months ago with my Vegas Pro 9 as I bought it before leaving for a 6month trip only to have the unopened box be delivered and disappear while my Neice was looking after my home. As it had been more then 9months since I had ordered it when I finally contacted them, I had to fax them a copy of my credit card used to purchase the item and they generated new serial numbers for me.

If you bought it from a store and never installed it, then you are likely out of luck. I would still ask Sony's customer support, but I suspect it will be of no use (but perhaps they might offer a 20% discount code for a new purchase).
