Capturing with Vegas or HDV Split?
Hi, guys!
Is there any huge difference capturing my xha1s with VegasPro9 or HDVSplit? Does any of you use both of these programs? ..and if you have any preferences.. thanks!

There should be zero quality difference. Both should be reading the contents of the tape and creating a file with the exact contents of the tape. Just use whichever one you like best.

I find vegas does not do the scene detection properly, there's usually a few frames from the adjacent scene stuck to the end of each clip. Not sure if it's a 25P thing, a Canon HV30 issue (I use HV30 for capturing) or if it's general, but anyway HDVSplit is able to split the scenes correctly.

I use HDV split as well... just seems to work every time whereas Vegas Pro 8.0 for me will drop more frames, not split scenes properly, and freak out if there is a timecode break.

I might try using HDV split for HDV capture since it's annoying to change and rechange so much in Vegas to capture DV, then HDV, then DV etc. (ok vent over)
