EX1 clips - transcode or just copy?
Using Vegas 9 with my new EX1, should I transcode the files or use them as is from the camera? If I do transcode, should I use the Sony Clip Browser or Cineform?

I can't tell you what you should do, only what I do: I export them to "MXF for NLEs" in the Sony XDCAM EX Clip Browser, and use that in Vegas 9.0c. That way no transcoding is necessary (it just re-wraps it in a different file format), so I do not lose anything.

Paul,
As far as I can figure you have to convert to MXF for use in Sony Vegas. At least that's what all the Sony literature says and that's how I've been doing it with my EX3 footage. Using ClipBrowser is easy to batch covert files. Garrett |

Is MXF still an MPEG2 format? If so, will it hold up to color correction, filters, etc.?
