Vegas Pro 9 32bit/64bit...Will I have to buy both versions?

Hey all,

Long time since I've posted.

I have Vegas Pro 8 on my desktop and my laptop.

I figure the laptop has another couple of years in it but the desktop needs an upgrade soon.

The desktop will be either a quad-core or, if budget allows, an i7/i5 core machine which means I'd be able to run 64bit VP9.
I'd still need the 32bit for the laptop.

Two questions. Will I have to buy both the 32bit AND 64bit versions (laptop & desktop respectively) or will Sony let me download both with the purchase of one?

Question #2. Will footage edited on the 64bit system be accessible on the laptop with the 32bit setup?

Hope that was...mostly, clear. :)

Thanks for an assistance that can be offered.

sincerely,

ian

1. No the two versions come for one price.

2. Yes, though the reverse may not be true. The 32 bit version has filters that are not yet ported to 64bit (like Magic Bullet). So if you use them in the 32bit version, the 64bit version won't see them.

Thanks Perrone,

That helps a lot.

Hopefully the 32bit filters will be ported to 64bit by the time I'm ready for the upgrade.

sincerely,

ian

Don't hold your breath. MANY already have been. For example, the major scripts work in both, NewBlue works in both, I believe the Pixelan effects have been updated, and probably other. However, some like Magic Bullet have NOT been updated.
