Importing FCP captured clips into Vegas?
Is this possible? Can FCP captured HDV clips be imported into Vegas? Is there an HD codec that's shared between both systems?
If no HD codec, what about an SD codec? The guys who shot my wedding are capturing the HDV tapes for me. However they use FCP and I use Vegas. Thanks! |

If you have a current installation of quicktime on your PC, you can read their native ProRes files. This is the simplest solution. There are a couple of pitfalls, but it works just fine.
Alternately, you can both install the free Avid DNxHD codec and they can encode to that, and you can read that. This method is more seamless and free, but not as "easy" as them just handing you their ProRes files. I've done it both ways, and they both work.
