Do you mean to shadow and feather the PnP? All of this can be done very easily in Vegas using Pan/Crop or Track Motion although Pan/Crop works best. If you have Excalibur you can do a 1 touch PnP via the script but assuming you don't have Excalibur simply place the clip you want to be the picture in the picture on the track above the main clip. open the Pan/CRop of the top clip resize it to the size you want (remember with pan/crop everything is opposite-bigger numbers for width and height means smaller picture-when moving left is right and up is down) and reposition to start where you want it to and end where you want it to (you can use keyframes) set fade in/out if you want and you're done. Takes longer to write it than to do it. Practice a bit to find the optimal settings for your project.

Hi Don,
Thanks for the explanation, However I don't have Excalibur, how can I give the picture a nice shadow? I don't want it to look flat. Thanks Matthew

If you want another option for a flexible PIP tool, you might also take a look at Video Essentials from NewBlueFX. It can easily create a PIP as well as including borders, shadows, reflections, etc... Much more flexible than the built-in methods.
