Render Freeze with Audio at Infinity

Hi Guys

This has happened to me twice!!! I have no idea why BUT if you set ANY audio track slider to Infinity the render freezes and just increments the render time until it's at hours!!!
You cannot cancel and have to "Ctrl,Alt, Del" to shut down.

If you then take the audio to something like -28db (I just didn't want any ambient in this track) it renders perfectly!!!!

Anyone know why this happens??? I SHOULD have learnt my lesson the first time and after a few reboots with the same project freezing each time my feeble brain figured that the ONLY think different about the project was the audio level slider being all the way left..

At any other audio setting it works like a dream !! (BTW: This is Version 9..haven't tried to see if 7 has the same problem) If it's an in-built bug then be warned that it does happen!!!

instead of setting the track header slider can you not 1) delete the audio you don't want? 2) use an envelope set to INF for the audio you don't want or 3) route each audio track to a seperate bus then pull the slider on that bus to INF?
Can't say for sure why you're having a problem but there's more than 1 way to skin a cat.

Hi Don

Pure laziness on my part!!!! Yes the correct thing to do would be to ungroup the events and just delete all the audio!!! I admit I haven't tried dropping the envelope to infinity but that will probably work too!!! This was a wedding photoshoot and the bride wanted just music but since the audio was fairly low anyway, a slider setting at -28db did the trick.

Next time I will simply delete the audio track!!!! Still is strange why it won't render!!!
