24p / 23.976 frame rate???
Hello,
In Vegas 8 and DVD Architect there are settings for broth 24p and 23.976 projects. When 24p, in video, is actually running at 23.976 why is there BOTH a setting for 24p and 23.976? For example, if I shoot a 24p project (23.976p frame rate) -- when I to to edit, what is the difference between a 24p or 23.976p time line? If there IS a difference, what is it and when would you choose either frame rate? I understand that in Vegas 9 there is only a 24p (23.97) setting. Thanks! Ian |

If you are shooting video (on a camera that costs less than $30k) you are likely shooting 23.976. If you are shooting with a FILM camera (Arri, Aaton, Bolex, etc) you are probably shooting 24p.
If you don't know why you'd need actual 24p then you are 99.99% certain shooting and editing 23.976. If you want to learn the difference, start here: 24p - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. I don't mean this to sound flippant, but the discussion can get somewhat heady and technical, and usually for no reason.
