I may have misunderstood...

Hi Ed,

Yeah. I may misunderstand.

I have no problem with everything being appropriately linked.

I have more of an aesthetic concern.

As noted each submenu of four dances has all of the submenus listed at the bottom of the page. 1 to 4 5 to 8 etc.

When I return to any of the submenu pages it's the "1 to 4" link that is always highlighted. I was hoping that when I returned to, say, the "9 to 12" submenu that the "9 to 12" link would be the one that's highlighted.

A niggling thing I realize but then I'm a little... picky about my work.

Thanks again.

sincerely,

ian

And if you change the setting I mentioned, THAT is what will happen. It specifies WHICH button is to be highlighted.

Track 1: Green screen clip
Track 2: New background clip

Add the chromakey effect to the clip on track 1 and use the eyedropper to pick the color of the background color.

Keith Kolbo's article, "Chroma Keying DV in Sony's Vegas", at http://www.broadcastnewsroom.com/art...e.jsp?id=31596 is an excellent tutorial.

Effects issue

Just upgraded Vegas 4 to 6. Anyway, after reading the 400 pages of manual, I can't seem to find my likely simple answer.

Question: Why do all my effects only appear in half of the image?

Thanks in advance.

On the preview monitor there is an icon that switches "splt screen" on/off. Turn it off.

Thank you for your responses. I will surely play with your suggestions and hopefully they will give me that smooth event change that I am looking for.

Brian, what do you mean by "quantize to frames" and what is hard cutting?

If i understand it correctly, that the little triangle in the upper corner should be dark blue when 2 clips are butted together. Should there be any overlaps like .1 seconds?

Thanks again!

A "hard cut" is probably not a real editing term, but what I meant was a cut from one clip to the next, rather than a cross-fade transition.

"Quantize to frames" makes the clips snap to the frame boundary grid when you move them. If you have your cut in the middle of two frames rather than right at a frame edge, it may render funny and that could be causing your problem. There is a button on your toolbar that turns quantizing on and off, and you can also toggle it with ALT+F8. You should keep it on when editing video, and can turn it off when doing the audio if you need to make movements of a fraction of a frame. It should be on by default, so it's probably not your problem.

Yes, the little triangles in the corner should be dark blue when the two video clips abut each other and you aren't cross-fading. If they are light blue, there is some fading in and out going on. Also, you might try a very quick cross-fade of just a few frames to see if that helps, too.
