Video Walls Using Ed Troxel's Excalibur

Forgive me if this is posted somewhere, I DID look - unsuccessfully.

I have been playing with making a video wall, and realize I can brute force it in Vegas with a fair amount of control... but I would like to try using the scripting power of Excalibur, and was hoping to find a "jump start" in the form of a tutorial somewhere, but failed to find anything. If there is one, can someone (Ed?) direct me to it?

Thanks.

Chris, try this, it's brilliant/easy/free,,, we like those words yes ?

It's called Davitools video wall for vegas, link below.

DaviTools

Once installed you can even have it as a docked tab.

not to detract from DVi but Edward does have a site dedicated to both Vegas and Excalibur along with his newsletters where there should be plenty of info about Video wall. www.jetdv.com :: Index

In short, you would place the clips you want in a wall on the TL, go into Excalibur, set the parameters you want, 3 across, 3 down, etc press the button and BAM! Job done.

Anything else? ;-)

Seriously, scripting is awesome and really makes life easier.

There are a few videos on my website - making a video wall is not one of them, though.

There's also my website, which Don mentioned, set up to directly support my products.

If you go to the "About" tab, you can also open the documentation.

As for creating a video wall, here's the process:
1. Add your clips to the timeline.
2. SELECT the events that are to be included in the video all.
3. Go to the Video Wall tool, select the desired width and height counts, and then click on the "Video Wall" button.

You should now have a video wall.

In vegas, go to view>extensions and it should be in there.

Thank you all. Initially I had a little trouble with Excalibur and making it work but as usual it was me not the product. You just have to go in order... place clips... select clips... start Excalibur etc. I was getting things started too early. Anyway I got it figured out.

Thank you also Paul. I had previously downloaded Davitools and played with their videowall as well. For the price it can't be beat.

In the final analysis, the scripting tools in both are excellent and useful - but if you want something fancy (like a full screen image shrinking into position...kind of like you see on the TV series 24) - you are going to have to just brute force do it yourself.

Still - I am learning.

And while Davitools is a slick program, the depth of what Ed's program offers is fantastic. I could spend days just learning everything in it.

Highly recommended... go try it out, (as well as Davitools Videowall if your interest is limited to just videowalls.)
