I was trying to do this as well, but got two questions for you:
1. which exact version of Vegas? (I'm using 5.0b) 2. what is the exact name of the function you are using for rendering previews, because I've got (under Tools menu): - Preview in Player - Selectively Prerender Video - Build Dynamic RAM Preview (grayed out here) 3. what are your project settings you are using?

I'm sorry but I seem unable to test this. My dynamic RAM preview
stays greyed out (yes, I increased the memory it could use for this to 512 MB). I've never used the feature before either, so I have no real clue as to what is going on....

I was going to post a question about why sometimes I go to RAM render and I end up rendering only a few frames or so when I saw this post. Sometimes it works well, sometimes it doesn't work at all. I have 1.5 Gigs of RAM.
I see no relation between when it does and when it doesn't. I will sit back and see if someone joins in with a solution. |

Hello Edward!
Charley & Rob - thanks for showing the interest .. . All we need is to wake up Edward and we could play some Holiday Bridge. 2 Clubs . ..
But yes, I get 2 frames and then it falters. Copy and paste it down the T/L and it works nice as pie. . .. Grazie |

Obviously it's telling Grazie that the picture doesn't belong there. Instead he should be placing it farther down the timeline! :-)
So, Grazie, what's the footage you SHOULD be placing at that location???? :-) Honestly have no idea why ram render would not work for the same image in one location but work in another. I almost never use ram render anyway. Does a full render work there? Or a pre-render? Or a render to new track?

Hiyah Edward,
. . hold on just firing up the MONSTA! . . I'm really suffering with a nasty sore throat .. anybody got an OLD time relief remedy? . . Okay . . MONSTA! is awake . . grabbing hold of Vegas . . New Project . . "Does a full render work there?" Yes. "Or a pre-render?" Yes. "Or a render to new track?" - Yes. Repeating experiment . . 1/- FXs aren't the culprit 2/- BUT when I use P/C and try and RAM Render = 2 frames! 3/- Just copied this same event further dpwn the T/L and RAM render works! 4/- Now stick another FX on this P/C and it works too! Throat still sore . . I'll be on pain killers in a couple of minutes. Don't wanna touch Penicilin quite yet .. . Grazie |

WHERE on the timeline?
The only thing you added is Pan/Crop? What if one of US tries the VEG (you just would need to tell us the timecode range to ram render)?

. . sorry Edward . . just repeating . .
1/- Event STARTS at 00:00 total length 00:00:18.02 sec AVI 2/- P/C introduced 00:12 . .simple move right 3/- This works in Preview .. BUT! 4/- Highlight as per doing a RAM render, I get 3 frames and then it faulters .. 5/- Copy the same Event and Paste to around 00:01:00 . .ie 1 min marker . .and RAM renders work! 6/- NOW delete original EVENT at 00:00:00 and PASTE back the COPIED event and this now works at 00:00:00 Totally weird! p.s. I do have 1gig of RAM given over to RAM renders Grazie |

Very strange. Tried to do something similar here - didn't get it to fail.
