DSE,
I'm very excited to see the first 3 DVDs in the series will be shipping soon. How different is the "Introducing Vegas 5" from the combination of "Vegas 4 Editing Workshop" and "Vegas 5 Fasst" DVDs? I have both and I'm thinking the "Introducing Vegas 5" will be redundant. When do you think "Instant Vegas" will available? Thanks. |

"Introduction to Vegas 5" is very basic. Not remotely close to the FASST DVD we did to get folks quickly up to speed on what's new in Vegas 5. We didn't even cover DVD Architect in the FASST DVD, so Volume Two in the series is "Introduction to DVD Architect," which is also basic. Gets you through the media to project, project to DVD steps.
Other volumes, we're being fairly quiet about until just before release. Volumes Three and Four are in the can and mostly edited, but only Three is going to ship on August 1, as I think we're going to change some aspects of Volume Four due to come competitive demand. From these forward, it gets pretty advanced. Instant Vegas 5 is scheduled to ship mid October, we're hoping they finish the layout before then, but publishers are very, very slow. Did I say "very, very?" I meant AMAZINGLY, RIDICULOUSLY slow. All publishers, not just ours. I recently worked on books for Focal and Peachpit. They were horribly slow. Approved text in December, the books didn't make it before NAB. (four months AFTER copyediting was done)

Thanks DSE. I'll probably wait for Volume 3. I have to say again what an invaluable asset having your DVDs available as I edit and need to brush up on a few topics. Just did so yesterday and it helped immensely. So much to learn and remember!

Available anywhere in the world. Wish I'd have some with me for my trip to Sydney leaving off next week. We might send some express post to Melbourne and Sydney if it's not too horrifically expensive...
If not, our fulfillment house ships worldwide.

No frickin' foolin!! My airfare alone to Oz was nearly 3K USD!
I'll have some product with me, as I've just been informed from the good folks at Video Camera magazine. Hope to meet you at either the free Sony event, or at the Vegas training events!

OOPS!
Our webmaster posted a price on the new intro DVDs at $69.99, not sure why, exactly. However, retail is $59.99, and I suspect Videoguys will have a better price than that. B&H will too, but I don't know that they'll have them in stock as quickly as Videoguys will.
You can view streams of Volume One and Volume Two in the series on the VASST site, http://www.vasst.com Stream for Volume Three should be up in the next day or two. Just waiting for the replicator to send the test disc.
