Trimmer
I'm trying to work quickly with the trimmer to preview the media clips that I have. I'm noticing that it takes several clips to start playback of a clip in the trimmer. First I double click the file (loads in trimmer) then I have to click in the trimmer timeline and finally I have the hit spacebar or the play button. I just want to be able to select the clip and play it in the trimmer. Any way to do this without the multi-clicks.

Jonathan, even if I only open a portion of a clip in the trimmer, all I have to do is hit the space bar and it plays right away, no clicking required.

The file you have opened in the Trimmer is a single selection and will play from start to finish unless you select within it. I use the I and O keys to identify my cut points (Alt + R or L arrow moves single frame by single frame if you want complete accuracy) and this makes a selection marked by the yellow bar. You can then play this selection in Preview or press A to add the selected clip to the Timeline (use Tab to decide whether to transfer video only, audio only or both).
I find this a very quick way to edit accurately but you will need to use Auto Ripple if you are trying to insert a scene between others already on the Timeline. Richard |
