Import AVCHD sucks
Okay so I guess the Import AVCHD functionality in Vegas 8 doesn't read the date/time stamp of the footage? I just brought in a bunch of HMC footage and that field is blank..

There isn't much out there that WILL do that. However if you drag your video files DIRECTLY from the cam into a folder on your HDD then windows explorer will give you the time/date of the clip. I use this and a batch renamer program to rename all of my clips withe the time/date.

Jack: Isn't one advantage of the AVCHD format is the extra metadata associated with each clip? So you're saying none of the ingestion tools out there make use of the meta data? What would the be timestamp on the files? Does it match the actual capture time of these files?

Okay also how poorly thought out is the Import from AVCHD camcorder dialog box?
After ingesting one card, the dialog closes.. Upon opening it again for my next card, it reverts back to default Source & Destination, which means I have re-browse to source & dest for each card that I ingest..... Are SCS designers blind to basic videographers' workflows? |
