What setup do I need?
Were do I start? First off I am using a Canon XHa1s and will be filming in HD, my final output will be betasp. Is there any dvd's out there for recommendation for the best setup? I am currently using vegas 7, but will be upgrading to vegas 9. I am a little confused by the whole 4:2:2 and some of the other formats and with cineform neo and gearshift. Basically I want to know what is the best way to get the best quality to a betasp tape.
Thanks in advance! |

The simplest way is to download your HD files, create proxies with Gearshift. Do not create additional HD media with it. (that is an option but you don't need to do it).
Use the proxies to edit. When you are done editing and ready to render use gearshift to switch back to your original files (it is basically a one-click process to do that) then render to desired format. This way you are editing with easy to use proxies, but rendering the original HD footage to whatever format you desire. Simple and high quality. |
