4:4:4 Color?
Vegas 9 can work natively with Red's .R3D files and can handle files with 4K resolution.
But working natively w/ .R3D does not actually mean that Vegas can actually work in or render to a 4:4:4 colorspace. I realize that version 9 has not come out yet. But can anyone shed some light on Vegas 9 being able to save to and render to a 4:4:4 colorspace? Thanks much.

Vegas has always operated in RGB and has had the ability to render and save to 4:4:4 all along. RGB is the same as 4:4:4 in that it does not have any chroma subsampling at all.

John, you mean rendering/saving as uncompressed, right?

Yes, uncompressed. The point is that Vegas is capable of operating in 4:4:4, so assuming the codec is capable of 4:4:4, Vegas should be able to deliver. I'm assuming that the new Vegas RED codec can handle it. I guess we'll know on Monday.
