4:3 graphics in widescreen project

I m suppose to use these graphic file for titles and bumpers in my project my project is in 16:9 and I. Want a widescreen output problem is my I don't want titles to go 16:9 as it puts titles in letterbox .. Is there a way to avoid that?

You have three options.

1) Cropping
2) Stretching
3) A combination of cropping and stretching.

If your project is 4:3 then cropping the 16:9 footage will not give you any loss (except for whatever resolution changes you may employ with the 16:9 footage). But that won't be a result of cropping.
