keyboard shortcut to move cursor

I've got "snap to events" selected in my preferences. I want a keyboard shortcut that moves the cursor in the timeline by "events". Left/right arrow moves it by frames, how about events?

the bracket keys seem to work only occasionally and then seem to give preference to the top video track, ignoring any cuts I have below it. Is there some relationship between tracks and something else that affects the way the bracket keys behave? This is frustrating.

Ctrl+Alt+Left/Right Arrow does this for you.

It does the same thing as the bracket keys. The top video track seems to have priority just like viewing stacking tracks.
I have a couple of events on a top video track with most of my edits on the track below. The cursor jumps between the top cuts and ignores the cuts on the track below. The only thing I can repeat so far, is that you have to select an event (or clip) on the track in question. Then, the cursor seems to follow the track cuts on whatever track has a selection. Or even further, clicking within an empty space of the track makes this feature work as well. This seems to be an unnecessary step but maybe it's true.

Actually, left/right arrows move by one PIXEL which may be one OR MORE frames.

Alt left/right arrows move by one frame

The CTRL-ALT arrow uses the selected track so you need to make sure you have the correct track selected to move between events.
