Vegas will not capture HDV
Happy Newe Year. Hi, I am new to HDV. I borrowed a Canon XL-H1. I videoed in HDV. When I go to Vegas "Capture Vide" I get the dialog box asking DV or HDV. If I click on HDV the program goes NOT go to the capture screen. I click DV and no problem. Also, when I hook the camcorder to the computer via firewire, it will not show any video in the comp. out mode 1080i/480i all I get is a blank screen, put if I change the camcorder to comp. out 480i I can see the video. Do I need an HDV capture card? Do I need a different connection wire? Bob

If you click on DV, it opens a separate external application for capturing.
If you click on HDV, it opens a new TAB in the DOCKING AREA for capturing. So you capture the HDV directly in Vegas. Then you need to select the proper input device in Vegas. Also, make sure the camera is set to output HDV instead of downconverting to DV.
