DV Scene detection in V6 not working
why would my DV Scene detection not be working its checked in prefs. and has always worked, same camera same brand of tape?? I checked it and restarted the computer still no dice

If it's an older camera, make sure the internal battery (about the size of a nickel) hasn't died.
This battery is what controls the camcorder's internal clock and, without that data, you won't get the information you need. If it is the battery, remember to reset the clock after changing it. |

As Mike said, the DATE/TIME must be set in order for scene detection to work. I know on my Canon, when I turn it on it will warn me if the date/time is not set on the screen so I know to either go set it or leave it unset knowing I won't be using scene detection.
Also with my Canon, the "internal" battery is EASY to get to. I know some other camera's aren't so easy so your model of camera may or may not allow easily changing that battery.
