Need Advice for render WMV format ?
The client has requested that they need a Windows file format to play on a laptop which then is sent to a projector out to a large screen.
My project settings are 1440 x 1080 Pal HD from a Sony Z1.I will need to downconvert. Could someone help me with render settings for WMV file for this client. I dont think they need HD, just a Pal widescreen format that will play on a work computer. I'm new to Vegas and like this NLE but need help with this. When you render, in the Video tab set width to 720, height to 576 and pixel aspect ratio to 1.4568. As regards to the quality - maybe start with Mode set to "Quality VBR" and "Quality" set to 90%. You probably won't notice the difference between 90% and 100% but the difference in file size might be significant. If file size isn't an issue then go for 100%.
It might also help to set the project proerties to Progressive. Ian |

Pixel aspect ratios are a nightmare to understand! I think 1.33 is HD. If you go to File->Properties and select PAL DV Widescreen you will see that Vegas uses a PAR of 1.4568.
Non wdescreen is also 720 x 576 - but the PAR for that is about 1. Rather than change the PAR you can leave it as square and change the width to 1049 (720 x 1.4568). That's the method I used to use because i thought you had to select from the list of drop down values - somebody on here enlightened me that you could just overtype! So using 1.33 will be close to the correct size but not quite wide enough. Ian |
