Vegas Pro 8 bundled with Magic Bullet Movie Looks?
If you wiki Sony Vegas, at the end of the second paragraph, it says:
"With the release of Vegas Pro 8.0, both DVD Architect Studio Pro 4.5, Vegas Pro 8.0, as well as Boris FX LTD and Magic Bullet Movie Looks HD are bundled together and may not be purchased individually." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_Vegas Is this true? What are the restrictions of this version? I can't find any more info anywhere on this. Have tried many google options. Thomas |

It's a limited version and you can't affect parts of the frame like you can with the full version. It also doesn't "track" like I hear the full version can do. But it does offer about 25-30 "looks" that you can use. I used the "Black Diffusion" for a recent project and my client LOVED it. |

I did not get magic bullet with Vegas 8 - i dont think its bundled anymore - however i did purchase the new magic bullet for the upgrade price of $99 and it works fine with Vegas 8 - fantastic price!

I have been thinking a lot recently about getting MB for vegas 8 but I am really wondering if it's worth the 400 for the non-upgrade. How easy is it to integrate into your workflow Sherif?

The version that was bundled with Vegas 7 is an older version. The new version is an amazing set of tools and although I would say it is more than worth the full asking price, you need to determine how important this kind of suite is to your projects/clients. I strongly recommend you try the demo.
As far as workflow integration is concerned, for me it's a no-brainer - I don't use it on everything, but there are only a few projects I haven't used one tool or another on. The presets are for the most part pretty good but I typically use them as a base point for further tweaking rather than out of the box. There are a couple of other threads in the forum that talk about the new Looks for Vegas (including good and not so good aspects). This is a seriously good set of tools (with a couple of niggling issues, none of which are, IMO, major showstoppers). You really should try the demo. |

Ken, I agree with Ian - its worth the asking price but you can pay $99 if you have Vegas 8 (for the newest version) or Vegas 7 - you treat it like any filter and it has worked 100% glitch free with Vegas 8 on my Quad-core 2gb RAM XP machine. I find that it has replaced my use of Sonys color correctors. It does slow down my renders TREMENDOUSLY unless you have a really powerful graphics card - I have a cheapish Nvidia 7300 with 256Mb Ram - MB have recommended graphics cards on their website. But the end result is worthwhile for me (and with the £/$ exchange rate its getting cheaper every day!).
However on several occassions a render which took 7 hours Vegas crashed without as so much as leaving an error message - just disappeared. Since my Vegas has done this before I got MB I assume its just buggy Vegas - I'll live with it until i get FCPro on Apple. Frustratingly all their other filters are NOT for Vegas (Premier, Avid, FCP instead) which is intensely annoying. |
