D8 rendering

I wanted to render avi with different codecs and at 320x240, I tried cineform, divx, and xvid. they will render at 1440x1080, but I wanted 320x240, On my laptop, I can render all three,at the 320x240, and on my desktop, only xvid will render. other two give me error mess. only difference between two computers is my desktop has new cineform and laptop has an older version, otherwise the same. what gives!
